Safer Dance is partnered with Birmingham City Universities Music industries course. This partnership has enabled us to capture the voice of the music industries future leaders. We have delivered briefs for the Music Innovation module surrounding the issue of Nightlife Safety alongside creating and delivering a range of marketing materials including blogs, pamphlets and posters with first-third year students.
Safer Dance Co-Founder Sam Hennerley is a BCU alumni of the music industries course where he first brought the idea of a sexual harassment reduction framework to life in for his final major project.
We are a group of people in the Dance Music Industry who are fighting for change in an industry that has been cloaked in sexual abuse from its infancy.
By sharing our own stories and those of other survivors in the industry we can raise awareness and combat a culture of silence that turns a blind eye to the presence of violence and abuse.
MeToo are actively campaigning for drastic change within nightclubs, venues, and festivals across the globe. With an open letter receiving 5,000 pledges. Safer.Dance will work closely with those venues/operators who actively want to make a difference to our culture alongside a host of campaign activities to champion safer spaces for everyone.
